1) My religion, technically, is Atheism. Although I consider myself Areligious (that is, having no religion) I suppose I could be considered an Atheist. I don't believe in God or anything Christian, despite the many people that preach to me about it. For all of you that are sitting here reading this and screaming, "What?! How can you NOT believe in God?!" There's a few reasons I don't. For one, I don't believe in anything the Christian religion teaches. I support gay marriage, unlike the bible agrees with. I don't see how God can be considered so helpless by "sending his only begotten son to die on the cross". Wouldn't a more selfless act be to have your own life taken? Duh. I believe that the bible was written by some guy who was bored one day and decided to get creative. 2) I support gay marriage, whether anyone likes it or not. I believe that everyone is entitled to be with whomever they choose, and homosexuals should be given the same rights as heterosexuals. The time that we're living in feels like racism all over again, but discrimination of gays. What is the big deal? Why should gays have to hide their identities to get respect in this world? 3) I support abortion. I believe that it is a woman's right to choose whether she should have to carry her baby to term or not. No matter the circumstances, even if they were planning on having the baby in the first place, changing circumstances come into play. Why should rape victims that are impregnated by their rapist have to carry a child that is the result of a traumatic incident? Many of you anti-abortionists say "they should at least carry it to term and then give it up for adoption". Why should they put themselves through that all to give the baby up in the end? Others may say "well the child they 'murder' could have grown up to cure cancer or something". Well, 'what ifs' don't exactly work for arguements in today's society, and while I believe that everyone should be given the opprotunity to life, I don't believe that women should have to carry the burden of something they didn't sign up for, or even did sign up for but have changed their minds due to changing circumstances. 4) I support stem-cell research. While it does involve the killing of live embryos, the research could lead to so many medical advancements in the near future. Think about this: if you were a parapalegic or a quadripalegic or if someone you loved were, wouldn't you want them/yourself to be able to have the medical treatment you so rightly deserve? Could you imagine never being able to move any of your body again? 5) I support the ' Live Strong ' foundation. I believe that all cancer research should be given the proper funds to extend the research opprotunities that will cure millions of people in the future. Huge amounts of people are dying from various cancers each year, and a cure is out there.. we, as humans, have the responsibility of being dedicated enough to find it. Although there are treatments for some cancers such as chemotherapy or radiation, most come with very drastic side effects and are not pleasant. 6) I am against the war in Iraq. First of all, if you know me at all, you know that I am hardcore against Bush. First of all, the only reason we went to war was because Bush wanted to avenge his daddy because Hussein tried to kill Bush Sr. There were, in fact, no Weapons of Mass Destruction according to the official inspection report given in 2001. The reason that "there may be weapons of mass destruction in Iraq" was given by Bush when he declared war, even though it was proved that that was a wrong assumption. Sure, it is now a very good thing that Saddam is no longer in power nor any longer a threat, but does that mean that we should go around to all the third-world countries and the countries with awful governments and wage war on them all? That is hardly the way to do things. 7) I am against suicide. While I can understand that suicide may be the only and final exit for many people, that does not mean that I am in support of people killing themselves right and left. The same goes for self-mutilation and self-cutting. I believe that a lot of teenagers do the two things for attention among their peers, while some are serious about it. In my opinion, it's not a good thing to kill yourself, but I also believe that suicide should not be against the law. Most teenagers do think about suicide at one time or another, although most do not attempt or go through with it. Most anyone who cuts their upper arm or wrists horizontally are not serious about comitting suicide, and are doing it instead as a relief for emotional pain. Most know that cutting your wrist horizontally is not enough to kill you quickly, but on the other hand some may not. Anyway, back to the point. Suicide is a controversial topic for me to discuss, for the main reason that I don't know exactly where I stand on it. 8) I'm neutral for the death penalty. I'm against it because of the fact that vital errors have happened in the past, and say if someone is executed and then twenty years later new evidence shows up. Is the family of that person given an "I'm Sorry" later or something? I mean how do you justify killing the wrong person? On the other hand, if somebody did something to somebody I loved, I would personally want to kill them myself. So, in conclusion, I don't know where I stand on the subject. 9) I am for Euthanasia. I believe that anyone who is suffering a great deal of pain and requests to be euthanized by their doctor, nurse, or whoever, should be able to have it done without the person who does it going to prison for life on a conviction of murder. I mean, if I were suffering from Leukemia or something that is back for like the fourth time, I would like someone to just inject me with potassium chloride and make my death painless and put me out of the misery I was in. Wouldn't you? 10) Finally, I am against racism and discrimination. It disguists me the way I see humans treating other humans. I've heard people saying that other races aren't even of the human species, or that they are inferior to them. Why can't everyone just get along? Why should anyone have different views on a person because of their skin color or ethnic background? It is ridiculous, and disguisting. I'm also against the use of slang words that imply racial slurs and discrimination. I hope that one day the world will have rid itself of discrimination, but if not let all of the racists and discriminators burn for all I care. Anyway, I'm going to ask that if you just read all of these things on my perspectives of certain things, that you comment on this entry and agree/disagree with my opinions. Feel free to put your explanations, and perhaps we can have an agruement or something. Pero, necesito hacer mi tarea. Adios y hasta mañana donde escribo en aquí otra vez. |
